Australian Nursing Registration

Australian Nursing Registration is a requirement for anyone wishing to practice as a nurse in Australia. Managed by the NMBA and AHPRA, it ensures that nurses meet professional and safety standards. To register, nurses must have completed an accredited nursing program, meet English proficiency requirements, and pass a criminal history check. Overseas-trained nurses may need their qualifications assessed by ANMAC and may be required to complete competency assessments.

AHPRA

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is the national body responsible for regulating health professionals across Australia. It manages the registration of nurses (and other health professionals) through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). AHPRA ensures that all registered nurses meet the required standards of practice, maintain competence, and follow ethical guidelines.

ANMAC

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) accredits nursing and midwifery education programs in Australia and assesses the qualifications of internationally trained nurses. Overseas nurses must have their qualifications assessed by ANMAC to ensure they meet Australian standards before applying for registration with AHPRA.
